My weavings are expressions of time and place. They carry elements from my environment in their color and forms, as well as gestures from a more internal contemplative place. I derive inspiration from the things that surround me in the present: nature, fabric, architecture, and the human body. I often dye my materials with colors inspired by my garden, and weave with designs inspired by grid-like structures and buildings. The translation of these sources into cloth creates something completely new for me, taking on feelings of the moments in which the work is created beyond the sources from which the weavings are borrowed. My hope is to convey a complex sense of place and time through my work, as it is a window into my personal interpretation of our world.
